I’m not “upset” because Show!Dany is NOT Book!Dany. They’ve ruined that. I’m annoyed at how Dany is, yes. How they took away her victory over the Second Sons even though they renamed the Stormcrows the Sons and mentioned the wine. I’m annoyed by how they had Missandei get slapped on the ass when there’s no way Book!Dany would have allowed that to happen- they have guards for a reason. I’m annoyed by how Dany’s people were so inept on the show, they allowed her to get broken in on and once again Missandei is hurt. I’m annoyed at how they had her be naked for no reason.
They’ve changed Daario, sure, but it’s not annoying and sexist like with Dany. Daario… in the books, GRRM wrote him to be “sexy” for Dany, so all these changes are what DD think make a sexy dude. A guy with long brown hair in braids, armour, and talking about fighting for “beauty” and not paying for prostitutes. Apparently. They’re turning him into some sort of warrior poet or something which isn’t who Daario is but like… it’s only been one episode so I’m not going to entirely write him off especially when the changes aren’t so huge they enrage me nor do they completely alter his core characterisation like Dany’s do.
The show is nothing like the books when it comes to any of the mothers so that ship has sailed, it’s past me expecting any source truth to it.
You can have super amazing characters, lead characters even, who aren’t “good”. Sons of Anarchy, Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dexter, Hannibal, Luther, Spartacus, Vikings… all of these shows had lead characters in varying shades of grey. Characters we love, characters we want to win, and characters who have done HORRIBLE shit to other people.
You don’t need to paint over a character in white, like they are trying to do to Klaus. That doesn’t work. It doesn’t erase the canon that says he’s a misogynistic, rapist, mass murdering psycho who strangled his own sister with his bare hands and carried her around in a box so he could stroke her face at his pleasure. Dude is CRIMINALLY INSANE ok. Embrace it. The more you fight it, he weaker the writing is.
Klaus literally kills and eats people and regularly enslaves them. Mostly women. Mostly blonde, young women. There is nothing that can change who he is at this point, nothing that can wash all that out. So I REALLY hope in The Originals they don’t try to? Julie won’t be all that involved, what with her TWO other shows, and I really do trust Michael with the Originals. I know Julie talks about “redeeming” Klaus, but Damon’s story is also about “redemption” and lol it’s 4 seasons in and he is still an abuser. So that means little to me.

They don’t need to watch it, but don’t talk about things you don’t know about it makes you sound dumb. klausenjoysthehunt is my oldest favourite who consistently makes great, great stuff for them with the tone I adore. Nails it. And sunlitearth is my fave fanartist for them, she does great drawings that just make me jump up and down.
There aren’t many people who make more creative sets -which I prefer- for the Originals tbph, I really hope that when the spin-off comes out there’s new material to inspire and also new people who start watching. Although this isn’t a fandom-specific problem, it’s pretty hard lately to find anything that isn’t a straight-scene gif set imo. I think that’s just what most people like so that’s what a lot of people make.
It’s already been confirmed we’ll have flashbacks. As for the rest, really, we can’t try to apply logic to anything that has Julie’s name attached.
HOWEVER, I know all the actors except Casper Zafer and Alice Evans have spoken about how they’d love to return so I think it’s inevitable we’ll get SOMETHING, eventually. If not… fanfic! Hopefully not as ghosts, though, because that’s really lame imo. I’d rather they not come back, than be weak and ineffectual like Nate’s badly-written return this season.
It really pisses me off. Daario switched sides b/c of Dany’s military tactics, not her breasts. So they not only changed Daario and his motivations, but they also undermined her military prowess and oversexualised her at once.
Daenerys was worth fighting for because she was going to win. She outsmarted the Second Sons by getting them drunk. They gave the victory of the Second Sons over to a man, Daario, and made Dany look like she’s just a sexual object to lure men into battle. It’s incredibly degrading and annoying.

He was such a great, if limited character. And I’d like to point out how I value his actor, Casper Zafer, and Casper’s comment about how creepy close/borderline incestuous Finn’s relationship with his mother was.
That being said, Finn is with Tyler in that he is one of the only TVD characters who continually tries to take responsibility for his actions. I just adore him tbh, I hope we get flashbacks of Sinn and the rest of the family, with Klebekah giving them shade at dinner or something.
I think it’s interesting how Finn abandoned Rebekah to bury their mother alone. How he wasn’t close with them (the trio), but he did travel with them until he was daggered by The Five. I think he lived in a separate house with Sage, but came to visit now and again. Which would explain why Sage thinks Klaus was the one who daggered Finn, and why she wasn’t killed that night the Hunters attacked.
He obviously hated what they had become, and was known to judge Klaus harshly. I imagine he never accepted Klaus after Esther disowned him and it was made known that Niklaus was bastard born. That might account for some of the distance and animosity? Or maybe Finn always hated Nik’s “hollow charms”. I think Finn saw the world for what it was, saw Niklaus for all his manipulations and false bravado. And I think he despised it all. Maybe that’s why he loved Sage so much, she was the fire he was missing in his own soul. She did, after all, convince him to live in 3x18.
He was complicated. He shared only one shot in TVD with Elijah, a tense moment between them as Finn left their mother and Elijah entered the room. He was seen drinking the toast with Kol, implying they could at least stand each other’s company. He laughed at Rebekah’s sass, and it surprised me how he seemed shocked she’d pick Klaus’ side in 4x18. He obviously knew how close Klebekah were, even 900 years ago, what with his “precious Rebekah” line. When he said “you’re siding with him??” it was sort of a “duh” moment, and I want to know why he’d think she wouldn’t? I guess her bitterness? Despite his sibling interactions he was willing to kill all of them. Sage convinced him otherwise, so it really was a lack of love towards them that allowed his suicidal feelings to turn homicidal.
He wasn’t a member of the Original family, imo, he was a member of the family they USED to be. He never transitioned over into the Family Above All monster mash. But Elijah said in 2x19 that the entire family was “quite close” so obviously there used to be affection. Affection that died with their worldly bodies, apparently. They represent the part of himself that he hates, thus he hates them for it.
It’s also incredibly, incredibly curious that Elijah, Kol, and Rebekah not only allowed but enabled Klaus to keep Finn daggered after The Five. Because Klaus went insane. It would have been easy enough to undagger him w/o Klaus interfering. I wish we could have that backstory. Rebekah can talk all she wants about Klaus being “tired of his judgement” but she must have been as well considering she helped Klaus keep him daggered.
He’s ignored by the family b/c he’s not a member of the family anymore, he chose that path. And he’s ignored by the fandom b/c we don’t know enough about his character to write reliable meta, and his scenes are difficult to gif. I don’t take it as a slight tbh, since I do try to include him but it’s rather a chore to do so.
In the end, Finn is a great example of how the Original Trio is a family of its own, resulting from both birth and choice.

Ok you want Caroline to spit on all her friends/family ok. That would completely destroy who she is. So you want a different character wearing Caroline’s face to fuck Klaus when he’s not abusing her but she’ll be ok with it b/c it’s in the name of “love” ok. Ok.

According to canon history as well as cast/producer interviews, it is delusional to think Klaus and Caroline could remain the characters they are if they ever engaged in any sort of relationship.
Either Klaus would become “good” which would be impossible/illogical and weak. Which you seem to agree with, correct? Or Caroline would become darker which would destroy who Caroline is.

She would be saying that they don’t matter, their pain doesn’t matter, that they are worthless to her.
Besides, all of their scenes have been absolutely ridiculous. Lol, hummingbirds??? Klaus wondering what it would hypothetically be like to fight for his life, not like he always whines about Mikael hunting him down eternally or anything lmao… It could have been given a decent chance but they never gave any meat to their scenes. They were always absolutely ludicrous.
As Daniel Gillies and Candice Accola say, it’s fan service. The ship makes no sense, and like Candice says it has no “longevity” or “truth” to it. Klaus abuses Caroline. He doesn’t even know who she is, having only talked to her a few times over a few months, and all of those times she was trying to manipulate him to free the people she cares about.
If you love the Originals and you love Klaus, you will agree with Joseph Morgan’s statement that Klaus is misogynistic and unable to have a healthy relationship. Why would you put someone like Caroline with someone who WILL abuse her, when she could be happy and healthy and safe on her own. As Candice said, Caroline has already done the abusive bad boyfriend route in S1 and knows better now and wants more for herself. Any fan of Caroline, I’d think, would agree.
Unless you hate Caroline as she is and want her to be abused, then ok ship-on.
